A free maths, literacy and digital skills course for adults in Pembrokeshire

Teaching essential skills

Struggling with basic maths, reading, writing, or using modern technology can be major barriers that lead to homelessness.

Our Pathways to Empowerment project helps adults in Pembrokeshire build these essential skills, making everyday tasks - like managing bills, applying for jobs, and staying connected - much more manageable on a daily basis.

Ongoing support

So far, we have helped over 100 people in Pembrokeshire improve these skills, but there’s also many more benefits to the sessions.

The project has also been hugely successful in improving the overall wellbeing of the participants, with mental health counselling, tenancy support and much more being available at each session.

Learners have made friendships, built up their confidence, and some have even become volunteers on the project itself.

"The course has helped me with many aspects of daily living, including budgeting, measuring for cooking, and catching the bus. My computer skills have also improved, and I now have the confidence to use my mobile phone."

"I was housebound before this course, and it gave me a reason to step out of the house. My anxiety levels have gone down, and I can now help my kids with their homework. My confidence with math and managing money has really improved."

"I built a real wall around me before starting the course, but now it’s come down, and I feel more confident and capable in my day-to-day life than ever before thanks to the PATH Numeracy Project and its staff."

We want to create a fairer society by giving those furthest from employment the chance to improve their situation. By helping people develop practical skills and providing the right support, we aim to build their confidence and help them secure a more stable future.

Our focus is on ensuring that everyone, no matter their background, has the opportunity to take positive steps forward. This project has already made a huge difference in people’s lives, from budgeting better and helping children with homework, to improving mental health and building stronger social connections.

“To see the lady who went from domestic violence and not having numeracy skills, to running her own business and having the confidence that you can see there… it’s incredible that you can do that. Thank you you for all the work you do together.”
